OLE NIELING

The foremost important element of art is the line. Without the line there is no form, no space for this form to take and no colour or texture can be applied.

In an attempt to understand this element a study to the line was deemed necessary. Thus came to be, ´Inquiry into the significance of the Line´.
Using eight cardinal directions (in order of application: N, Ne, E, Se, S, Sw, W, Nw) and applying this on both the portrait and landscape position 512 registrations of possible intersections of lines all reaching for the center of the frame came to be.
